CELEBRATING BLACK HISTORY
Sojourners Racial Justice Group has several activities and special events slated for February (and beyond) so mark your calendars now!
February 5: We'll have special music.
February 12: There will be a surprise guest.
February 19: This service will include a presentation on the relationship of the United Church of
Christ, to the Amistad, historically black colleges and universities and Sojourners. You’re
invited to bring a snack and stay after worship for a screening and discussion of the
documentary, Meeting David Wilson.
March 4: At 3:00 pm we'll discuss Pulitzer Prize winning columnist Eugene Robinson’s recently
published book, Disintegration: the Splintering of Black America .
LENTEN CALENDAR OF EVENTS
Ash Wednesday, February 22, 6 PM: Soup Supper with New Beginnings church followed by an Ash Wednesday Worship Service.
Wednesday Soup Suppers, 6 PM, followed, at 7 PM, by discussions on God in the wilderness.
February 29: The Mountains
March 14: The Desert
March 28: The Forest
Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service, April 5 th , 7 PM: We will gather for a traditional Maundy Thursday Service. Communion will be served during this moving and reflective service.
