Rev. Jim Bundy Jim
Bundy came to Sojourners United Church of Christ in February 2000, after pastoring
U.C.C. churches in the Chicago area for 30 years. His graduate education was at
the University of Chicago Divinity School where he received both a ministry degree
(D.Min.) and an academic degree (Ph.D.). In addition to serving churches in Chicago,
he was also an adjunct faculty member at Elmhurst College for 12 years.
Jim
grew up in a suburb of Washington, D.C., where he was active in a Unitarian church.
He was also strongly influenced by the Society of Friends and attended a Quaker
college (Haverford). He values the concern for social justice and the respect
for individual conscience in matters of religious faith that he experienced among
Unitarians and Quakers, and finds those values present as well in the United Church
of Christ in general, and at Sojourners particularly.
Jim
is married to Ava Baum. Ava is employed as the Director of Human
Resources with the Thomas Jefferson Foundation (Monticello). Jim
also has two grown daughters one of whom lives in the Chicago area
and one who has recently located to this area.
